Our Stories Don't Just Belong to Us

This past summer, I had the adventure of traveling to Europe—immersing myself in new places, collecting memories—but the most meaningful part? Coming home and sharing those stories especially this past few Fridays when I had the opportunity to share them with our residents. The hours spent together, the way their own travel memories surfaced in response, the laughter, the nostalgia, the moments of deep connection—it was a powerful reminder that our stories don’t just belong to us. They are meant to be shared, to spark something in others, to weave together the threads of joy, belonging, and understanding.

A few years ago, I started small groups in senior living around this very idea: creating intentional spaces where shared experiences have a voice. Where a simple story can transport us, bridge generations, and remind us that we are part of something greater. It builds community, it heals, and it’s not just aging—it’s thriving.
