Chaplaincy has given me the privilege of building genuine connections with remarkable individuals—leaders in their fields, from IT Lead to nursing practitioners, ADOC, and social workers. And yes, we’re all gathered around a robot!
Nothing happens in isolation. The bigger the dream, the bigger the collaboration needed. Chaplaincy has allowed me to understand their unique perspectives, the needs they aim to address, and their leadership visions. When combined, it’s a breeding ground for innovation, and that excites me every time!
Sometimes life is challenging, but other times, it surprises you with incredible blessings that roll out like a domino effect. It all started with meeting the Vecna group at a Centre of Innovation Conference in November, where Mark Hudson’s exceptional approach and openness to innovative ideas led to a four-week trial of their VGo Robot to explore its potential applications for long-term care residents. As the conversations progressed, it was lovely to meet their team, especially Simon Strauss whose patience and ability to explain things in layman’s terms has been invaluable as we rolled things out. Then came the robot delivery at my office door on Thursday evening. Of course, I couldn’t have opened it without the team, so we waited until Friday. The most memorable moment was unboxing it together—feeling the palpable excitement and unity.
I can’t wait to see what’s happens next in elevating elder care together!!
